Architectural Control

All proposed alterations to the exterior of a home and/or unit must be approved, in writing, by the Master Association before work may commence. Petition forms are available at the office or may be down-loaded from this Website. A petitioner must first obtain written permission to proceed with the proposed alteration from the Board of Directors in the village where he/she resides.

The Master Association’s authority is derived from Article VII of the Maintenance Covenants, which reads as follows:

Article VII, ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL

“No structure or improvement, including without limitation buildings, fences, walls, signs, swimming pools, boathouses, docks, aerials, antennae, bulkheads, sewers, drains, disposal systems or other structure shall be commenced, erected, placed or maintained upon any Lot nor shall any addition to or change or alteration therein be made until the plans, specifications, and location of the same shall have been submitted to and approved in writing, as to harmony of external design, location in relation to surrounding structures and topography, by the Board of Directors of the Association, or by the Architectural Control Committee thereof, which approval or disapproval shall be dispositive and shall take precedence over the approval or disapproval, if any, of any property owner’s association for the area in which any such Lot is located.”
